This book presents the complete Syriac text of the twelve Minor Prophets according to the Syriac version known as the Peshitto (or Peshitta).
The Twelve Prophets have now been gathered together and put in their traditional order: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. Special attention was dedicated to the vocalization of the Syriac text in order to make it as useful as possible to those interested. The text has been vocalized according to the western system: the “mixed” forms that are found in the Polyglot Bible have been excluded. The consonantal text of the Peshitta Institute of Leiden is used together with the Ambrosian manuscript B 21 Inferiore, denominated 7a1 by the Leiden editors.
We are certain that those who are passionate about biblical texts written in the ancient languages will find in these pages a useful aid for a grammatically motivated reading of the Bible in Syriac and hence become more enthusiastic in deepening this rich and fascinating Aramaic dialect.
